What would you do differently?:

Better Sighting and Navigating
Transition 1
  • 06m 7s
Comments:

Was not in gear for hill at beginning of bike leg
What would you do differently?:

Get in gear. Need to drop 2 minutes off this transition.
Bike
  • 3h 05m 32s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.11 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Work on more hills and strength training for legs.
Transition 2
  • 03m
Comments:

I took my time to let my legs recover and get my heart rate down.
What would you do differently?:

Go a minute faster.
Run
  • 2h 04m 16s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Started off too strong and died at the end. The last 0.5 miles was in the san at the beach which was really a tough change of pace.
What would you do differently?:

Start off slower to get the heart rate down to the 130s for the first hour and then pick it up the 2nd half to finish strong.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and stretched. Took post recovery shake.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think I need to strengthen up my legs and stretch more during my training. I need to increase my flexibility. I don't think I was getting full range of motion on my run.

Event comments:

Good race for 1st time 70.3.

Many people have been asking my opinion of this popular show, so I feel obliged to scream out: It's terrible! It’s horrible! It's abusive! I also feel like throwing my shoe at the TV.

I’m a 240lb man, and I run relatively long distances. How would you recommend training for marathon and IM distances as heavy as I am?
