Swim
Comments: Started in the last wave, had a good feel for where the drop off was, picked a good line to the first buoy, got off to a good start, rounded the buoy and BAM! A jet ski right in front of me. They were pulling a swimmer from the previous wave. Had to swim around the rescue then pick up the next buoy to get back on my line. What would you do differently?: Need to pick up some baby shampoo to keep my goggles from fogging up. Transition 1
Comments: The resort must have just recently put down new shell on the path from the transition area out to the road, great timing, made for a very painful run to the mount line. What would you do differently?: Learn to fly or develop thicker callouses on the soles of my feet. Bike
Comments: Very happy with my bike, especially since I hadn't rode my tri bike in over a month. Being able to average 20+ without training was a good feeling. The one bad thing is the RD starts the faster groups last in order to minimize the time the road is closed, unfortunately this results in a very crowded bike leg. Twice on the bike I saw riders cross the center line to pass creating a very dangerous situation. What would you do differently?: Actually ride my bike and I don't know, train? Transition 2
Comments: Struggled to unbuckle my chin strap, however, I was trying to do it while running and guiding my bike. I really like the new helmet, just need to get used to it. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: The run here is always a good/bad run. The good is the view, the bad is running with someone that turns toward the finish when you turn for lap 2. Well marked course with 3 water stations on each loop and plenty of volunteers/resort employees. What would you do differently?: TRAIN, get off my fat butt and run, stop making excuses and run, eat better and run... Post race
Warm down: The usual, grab a water and head for the shade. Added a beer, a Coke, and a Gatorade to my list of post race drinks before heading back to the beach to get my slides. What limited your ability to perform faster: Me. Event comments: This race is no longer a well kept secret, the word is out and it sells out fast. If you are looking for a late season destination race, this race should be on your radar. Last updated: 2014-01-10 12:00 AM

This was the first time we stayed on site at the South Seas Plantation. BEST DECISION EVER!!! If you ever do this race, stay on site, it eliminates ALL of the headaches of getting to the race in the morning. Got up, ate breakfast, left the family sleeping, rode my bike the .25 mile to transition, set up, then went back to the room to rest for a bit.
As always, none. Someday I'll do this, but not now.
