I think my kid probably looked more like the kid in the video today......4 miles then 20 X 200 in :27 - :30 with a 200 jog between.  Then swam 7000.....he was doing some crying tonight. LOL

My niece is running cross country for the first time this year. She is a frosh in HS. It has been fun watching her times drop from 26:XX down to 21:40 over the season.

What does he say?
"Arggh I can do it!"
or
"Arggh I can't do it!"

I think he says he "can't do it"....but he'll find out he can, and that's a good thing, whether he ends up being a runner or not.

Hopefully you are right.

To like the sport you need positive experiences. Some fun, some success, some pride.

If I don't feel like this at least once during my workout, I'll be disappointed with myself later.

Oh, I don't know.....I played a lot of sports in my life.....I liked all of it, but there were certainly times/games I wanted to quit, and there were certainly some bad experiences mixed in with all the good ones.   Sport is alot like life.....there are bad experiences here and there....I think it's best to learn to work your way through them.
