As a golfer, I'm surprised you didn't mention "The greatest game ever played"... The Francis Quimet story. I've watched about a dozen times on the golf channel...love it.

I watch a ton of movies/shows on the trainer, best ones to pass the time so far:

- Watch the Swedish trilogy of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movies. I've never seen the US version, but the original Swedish ones are really well done
- BBCs Sherlock or BBC America's Orphan Black. Both excellent. Jekyll was strange but also really well done.
- Any of the Ken Burns documentaries on Netflix
- Let the right one in (original Swedish version of the vampire movie Let me in. Much better than the American remake)
- Battlestar Galactica (sadly seems they took this off NF streaming. I missed it when it ran originally. Fantastic series)
- American Horror story (first season was almost too creepy for me to watch on the trainer in the mornings...)
- If you are one of the few that hasn't seen them. Breaking Bad. Starts of OK but gets MUCH better as the seasons go on

I also watch a bunch of old 90's era series on NF. Back then they would put 20 episodes in a season to it takes quite a while to get through them all.

i do more TV shows that movies - my normal plan is good drinking game +whatever TV show I am watching - when it says take a shot, I do 1 min high RPM - helps to break up the monotony of rides if they are just get on the trainer and ride rides - just depends on the torture my coach has planned

I don't care what movie it is but it needs to be set somewhere really beautiful so I can imagine I'm there.....Hawaii, Himalayas, Switzerland....

What is "long" for you?

I tend to have an array of movies to choose from, plus various sized tv shows to help fill in the time. Also have a few documentary type shows/series up as they tend to be easier to start/stop in the middle of.

Breaking Away is one of my favorites, but any action/thriller are my go to choices because it keeps me more entertained focused.
I dont think i could watch a long drama on the trainer.

This is one of my favorites too.  Last year I went through all the original Star Trek episodes.  So far this Fall, I've been watching European professional cyclocross races on youtube.  There are many of them available.  You can't understand what the commentators are saying but to watch these guys is really amazing and inspirational.  I pretend I'm in the race and even if I can't match their intensity I try to put out a hard effort because I know these guys are probably doubling whatever it is I'm doing.

The cheesiest/best '80s movie about bicycling: American Flyers.

I also save my DVR'd guilty pleasures for the bike: Sister Wives, etc.

I'll also rewatch TV series: Silicon Valley, Game of Thrones, etc. My goal is to get through Breaking Bad and House of Cards this off-season.

American Flyers and Breaking Away are my go to movies. I originally had both on VHS tape, but now I have DVD's. I especially like Breaking Away because I've actually ridden on all the roads featured in the movie.

On the long bike rides of 80+ miles I get very strong pain in my toes. I slow down my pace and I might recover, but when I hit the next hill it is back. Could this be some kind of circulation issue?

The most valuable thing you can do for your endurance training is to schedule a weekly 2-4hr long ride from now until the end of time. Simply make this “what you do” every Saturday or Sunday morning.
