Pre-race routine:

AM - 1/2 banana, 1/2 PB clif bar OJ. AM routine.

There with W and #1. Waiting, talking, selfies! Did 10 min walk, brief stretching. Was cold so had warm-up outfit on that I ditched in car before the start.

Comments:

Started at front of pack. Saw others I knew were faster than me. Got passed by a bunch of people, including 1 guy my age who I know is a faster runner. Did not try to keep up with him. Was breathing hard, so knew I was pushing my comfort pace. At 2 mile mark, got passed by Katalina, who I know runs sub-7's. Hung with her for a minute or so but let her go. Finished very strong.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Not sure if it was weather, resting legs, recent accupuncture, adrenaline, competition, no watch/pace feedback, but I PR'd in a HUGE way.
Post race
Warm down:

Water. Watching #1 and W come through the finish was a blast. Cheering them on. #1 PR'd as well! 8:06/mile!

Rolling calves and stretching at home. Can't find compression socks!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing

Event comments:

Did not drink at all on run. Still trying to test my limits. Got closer, but felt I could have pushed myself closer to my limits. Would love to run like that in a tri!
