Extreme Veteran 660 Texas | Subject: Orthopedic in Houston for Knee Pain? Finally! I can run again after breaking my 5th metarsal back in July and now I have pain below my knee. Can anyone recommend a great orthopedic who specializes in knees? I am hoping it's just something wonky that I am doing when I run to overcompensate for the bad foot, but want to make sure there's not something really wrong there. |

Veteran 740 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: Orthopedic in Houston for Knee Pain? If you're on the north side of town, I'd suggest seeing Keith Johnson at Sterling Ridge Orth and Sports Medicine. They have offices in both Spring and The Woodlands. The practice actively sponsors tri-related athletes, events, and groups in The Woodlands area. My family has had shoulders, knees, and collar bones all treated by the folks at Sterling Ridge with surgery, no-surgery, and PT all having been used, depending on the injury. http://srosm.com/ |

New user 175 Houston, Texas | Subject: RE: Orthopedic in Houston for Knee Pain? Sorry to hear about your knee pain after the break. I broke my 5th meta as well in June this year and waiting for that to heal was a bear!!!! Anyways, I have always had good luck with the Dr.'s at http://www.orthopedicsports.com/ I saw Dr. Bustos for my 5th meta brake this year, and I have seen Dr. Palumbo about a BBall thumb issue, and Dr. Provenzano about leg issues WAY BACK in high school. They were all good to deal with. They are in I10 near Campbell rd. I would not recommend this Dr. http://www.memorialhermann.org/doctors/orthopedic-surgeons/dr-f--al... at the Memorial Herman place off I10 at Gessner. I went there last year after I had knee pain from the Houston Marathon, and saw this Dr. I'll just say I'll never be going back there....... Good luck on a swift recovery. PS: After all my knee pain, I did many foam rolling sessions and after TONS of good pain from the roller, the pain went away and now I add the rolling to my list of TRI related things I have to do to stay healthy. Not sure if you need that, but it might be worth a try depending on where pain is and what not. Justin |

Extreme Veteran 660 Texas | Subject: RE: Orthopedic in Houston for Knee Pain? Thanks everyone! Surprisingly enough, I think it was my gait! As I was walking in the orthopedic shoe for those couple of months with the broken foot, I had a tendency to kind of walk with my foot going out to the side (leading out with my toes). After posting this, I attempted another run and realized that I was still doing this with my foot! I corrected the issue and have no knee pain since! Crazy, right? Thankful that it wasn't anything serious. toodamnbroke, sorry to hear about your break. It's been a real practice in patience waiting to the foot to heal, but glad we're both on the mend! New user 175 Houston, Texas | Subject: RE: Orthopedic in Houston for Knee Pain? I had to work hard "mentally" to also correct that gait issue now that you say it. I had forgotten about it, but I noticed right away when the boot came off that I was walking weird. I think I was lucky enough to catch it before I even started running (a few weeks after I got out of the boot). Glad to hear that you have found a solution and that hopefully you keep getting stronger!! Merry Christmas Justin |
