Regular  673    SF Bay area |  Subject: Previous Vineman ParticipantsRemember your swim in the Russian River? Pre-race there was always a post asking if there was going to be enough water in the river for the swim? The one where your hands were brushing the bottom and you may have occasionally had to stand up to wade the shallows? Well, river depth this morning was 32 feet with all the rain we have gotten. Feast or famine :-) |

This is what the Ironman finish line looked like on Alii Drive after the outskirts of the Japan Tsunami hit Kona. The King Kamehameha hotel lobby was completely flooded as well. 6 months later, the race went on as usual.
