Hola, sorry for being out of touch and hope everyone is doing well!  It got a little crazy between work, family events and trying to balance IM training.

Jackie, how are you feeling and are your ready for your upcoming HIM? Send us info so that we can track you

Dan, congratulations on finishing that crazy tour of Japan, I really enjoyed following some of your rides through your FB posts

Mark Z, how is your Ultra training going?  I will need some of your tips soon

Dennis, congratulations on your last minute Sprint Tri

Mitch, how is your foot doing, any better and chances to do the Tawas 70.3 with Jim?

Joe, just ready your post and sorry to hear what your are going through, but your decision makes a lot of sense.  We are not pros and should enjoy training and racing when possible, as a complement towards a healthy lifestyle.  Hope  that you stay connected with the group, that you recover well and that you continue sharing your valuable insights and wisdom with us.

Updating my totals including a tough 6hr, 112mile bike ride on Saturday with temps at the end up to 102F. At the end I almost collapsed from exhaustion/dehydration and had to skip the scheduled brick run.

Gabe, training is going ok, regular weekend practice on the trail - no problem, it's the team that is dysfunctional. 2 girls prefer to go the gym instead of running /walking on actual course. We trained together as 4 only once (!) and on top of it the money raising created tensions. Long story short, we are forming another team with 2 new people. Since it is a team event, the dynamics are very important, I'm learning a lot here...

I admire your determination to push yourself in those hot conditions Gabe!

Mark, thanks for sharing your experience with the team and agree that it is extremely important to have a good, cohesive team for events like ultras.  I'm currently in the process of formalizing my team for the Marathon Des Sables and have selected 4 other friends (all Ironman finishers) but trying to keep it at no more than 5 in order to preserve a good team dynamic and a memorable journey.  Keep us posted on your progress of your training and group initiatives (fundraising, press/media initiatives, etc)

I've been MIA for about a week doing a bunch of projects around the house in preparation for a party we had this past weekend. On top of that I haven't swam in about 2 1/2 weeks. Turns out that the 5:30am masters class isn't very practical with a 4 month old baby and my wife going back to work, so I need to find another swim option. Hoping to get back on the bike tonight and get back in the groove this week.

I have a sprint this weekend with an ocean swim and the water temps are expected to be in the low- to mid-50's. Gotta love summer in Massachusetts!

I am still waiting for Lake Huron to hit 50. I tried to swim last week and only lasted 2 minutes. It took me all night to warm up.

35min OWS, less windy today so much better. Race this weekend might not be wetsuit legal. Slightly/quite concerned about this as I am not a great swimmer to start with and have not done a tri swim with out the wetsuit. The lake I swim in was too cold to swim without the wetsuit tonight.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
