Hello...decided not to be a lurker...
I moved up here from fort collins in june...
been a runner for awhile but got into races a couple of years ago...biggest one was a 50k.
Decided to give triathlons a go (my boyfriend is a cyclist so we thought why not put the two together plus one...)
Anywho...He decided to stick with cycling but I am set on triathlon now. Signed up for sunrise tri olympic distance and harvest moon half distance. A friend suggested some stroke and strides too...
Kinda struggling a little bc swimming is new for me, cycling is pretty new (I'm pretty slow) and my running is taking a hit due to my other new sports...
Well thats about it for me for now... just wanted to introduce myself...
any advice helps
Thanks!

Hi, welcome to BT and triathlon!

The new mentor groups will be opening up soon, next week I think--super way to stay the course and get great info. Good luck!

Welcome to BT.

A 50K is a pretty big race!

As for swimming, patience...technique is important, so if you can join a master's group or sign up for some lessons, you'll benefit greatly.

Welcome!

Are you still in Colorado?  If you are, check out the Colorado forum too.  It's not super active but you might find somebody in your area to train with if you're interested in that.  There are a fair number of folks here on BT who are on the Front Range and do those distances.

As for swimming, a few lessons with a good instructor can go a long way.  The biking will come, the running will come back, and you have plenty of time to figure out the pacing to put it all together.

The Stroke & Strides are a great idea and I think there are some aqua-bikes in the area as well.  There are also several duathlons, which are good practice for the bike-run transition.

Most importantly, have fun!
