Good point! I refuse to grow up. In fact, the Mickey Mouse shirt I'm wearing right now says "I refuse to grow up".

Not much sleep and mommy guilt made for a short trail run this morning. When we left the house, T was asleep in our bed with a fever, a dose of kids Tylenol and a cool cloth on his head. Mak was the only one of us who got decent sleep last night. Happily, when I checked in with the sitter, he was awake and "feeling much better". Think some good rest will help everyone. On the flip side, got in a few good climbs on some seldom used trail sections

What do you think all? One piece tri suit or a two piece? Trying to decide for the new club kit.

I prefer the two-piece kit. It makes using the litterbox easier...

I like the one piece for Oly and sprints, but 2 piece for long course.  All in, though, doesn't make a huge difference to me as long as it fits...

One piece. The mid section separation and movement drives me nuts. I don't like waist bands or draw strings either if I can help it.

Well, looks like you have the info you need: length of race and "litter box" usage...though not mentioned by the tomcats :D

Haha, no doubt. The only time I've had to make, um, arrangements is in the lake, and no one really cares about that.  It's good to swim fast and be ahead of everyone!

It looks like several of you were knocking out the half marathons this morning in training.  Good job!

A food question for the Pod:

This morning I did a track workout. When I finished I had a half of a turkey wrap with carrots, cucumber slices, and a banana. This afternoon I did 1:30 on the trainer (20 med/20mod/20Mad plus wu and cd). Dinner was a grilled chicken breast and veggies.

I'm still hungry! What do you guys eat after a big training day?

Help before I eat the kitchen!

My body craves carbs more than protein after working out.  It likes pizza and beer mostly.  While a chicken breast would be good I'd have to have some pasta or bread with that.  I'm not a very healthy eater so veggies and fruits wouldn't cut it for me either. I wish I could eat those things like I wish I could get up early and work out in the morning.  I've tried but it is unnatural for me.

Also, great work on your two sessions today.

Most effective thing to sate your appetite is healthy fat - add some avocado to that wrap, drizzle olive oil over that chicken and veggies.

Happy Straya Day to those over in Straya!

Traditional Australia Day swim for me - was a little nervous as I haven't been swim training and last year I struggled with my broken wrist injury. Anyway conditions were hideous, cold windy choppy and filthy water. Never got any space, the waves behind were swimming all over us today - maybe they left less of a gap not sure. BUT all of those distractions meant i never freaked out! Loved it, I finally feel like the fitness is coming back. Been running lots too.

Just got to win the stare down with my bike….

Thanks Jo and Steve!

The wrap did have turkey, avocado, lettuce, cheese, and Italian dressing. Steve, what I really wanted was potato chips instead of veggies, but since my husband is trying to lose weight there are no chips in the house. I am definitely a carb girl so I'm going to have to add those back.

Happy Monday Manatee's

Quick stop in. I hope to stop in later and catch up on everything. I had a crazy busy week last week. Between launching new parts at work and not feeling well a few days due to lack of sleep. Step son was suspended from kindergarten for hitting teacher a second time in the week. I guess he kicked her. They have labeled him a trouble maker. I like to think he is 4.5 yrs old and just struggling with full time school and how to express anger and frustrations. But time will tell.

I missed a few workouts because of it all. That is life. I picked it up on the weekend and doubled up a bit on Saturday and on sunday.

Had my first outside run of 2015 on Saturday. Snowy side walks are like running in sand, but it was warm enough I did it anyways.

Hope you all had a great weekend, I am looking forward to being a bit more on track this week.

Hope all the racers killed it last weekend.

Finished stage 3 of ToS this morning.  It's gonna be a long week.

I have to agree with other comments. Fats and protein is what I need to feel full. I crave carbs and diet coke. Yesterday was a bigger day for me. Swimming and cycling. I didn't eat fats and protein. So I was bad and ended the night with a lot of ice cream. BAD BAD choice.

**For me** I find that a mix of carbs and protein right after the workout keeps me from getting the total hungry horrors about 90-120 minutes later.  I'll often have a full fat yoghurt or, in a pinch, a chocolate milk.  A smoothy is another great one, as you can use milk and fruit and yoghurt to the proportions you like (awesome flavor) and add some protein powder as desired.

I stick with the oft recommended 2/3 carbs and 1/3 protein - and then add 1/3 fat!    Agreed that without a little fat it doesn't satisfy, but without the carbs and protein, I get the same gnawing hunger later...  I'm probably closer to 1/2 carb 30% protein and 20% fat as ideal post-workout, but mix it up depending on mood and what I'm eating the rest of the day.

Jeesh, it sounds like I pay a lot of attention to my diet, but these are really all just habitual at this point.

Enjoy!

Matt

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
