Went out a bit aggressively. Miles 2-4 seemed really long. Course met up with 5k, which was terrible. I had to weave in and out of the 5k stragglers.

Event comments:

This race was an out and back course on the Trinity River trail. I don't recall if the course was certified, and the mile markers did not come close to agreeing with my Garmin. My Garmin had the race at just over six miles.

The 10k and 5k races overlapped over the last 1.2 miles. This was my biggest complaint, as I had to constantly weave through the slower 5k runners and the walkers. The 5k should have started first or been a different course.

The race management company had several difficulties with the results, and the awards took forever.

Food and drink at post-race was good, location was very family friendly. The course overlap is enough to deter me from doing this race again, but I did really enjoy everything election about it.

Honey, great news. I just spent our kids’ college fund on a new bike! The sales guy said it will shave at least 3 seconds off my 40K time. Umm, honey why do you have a knife in your hand???

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.

Out of this frustration, the first annual Denver Community College Triathlon was born. It was open to all employees of the campus, with a 30 dollar entrance fee for the campus scholarship fund.
