I have had a huge amount of support from the people on BT. I've thought long and hard about whether or not to post on here but I've decided I should as some of you have followed me along the way.

10 days before my 8th Ironman at Arizona I had some tummy pain so I went to the hospital to get checked out. 2 days later I had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from my colon and found out it was stage 4 as it had spread to my lymph nodes and liver.

I will not let this slow me down and stop me from getting 12 finishes. In fact, I've continued to train throughout my chemotherapy treatments. Feel free to follow along on my blog:

Sincerest wishes for your recovery as you fight through chemo...! I can only imagine how much mental toughness it must take to get through workouts while you're being treated but looking forward to reading about it when you finish your 12th IM!

I'm sorry to hear about that but glad I caught it. Sooner is always better. I'm high risk for colon cancer so it's a question of when and not if for me. I think it's awesome you're still pushing through and have a positive attitude. Kona will be so much sweeter once you get there. On a positive note, you'll probably get a tv spot once you go

Colin,

Thanks for posting about your health. I wish you and your family all the best during this difficult time. I want to let you know that I believe in your will and desire to fight. You have proven yourself with your training and racing that you are a man of great determination and success. You helped inspire me during my journey to becoming and Ironman. Good luck with everything and I am sure you will get to Kona soon!

Thanks so much guys! I have nailed down my racing schedule for the summer.

I will be doing a small local sprint, then:
IMCDA in June
IM 70.3 Calgary in July
IM Muskoka in August
Also, a 200km (120 miles) 2 day Ride to Conquer Cancer in Calgary.

At all of these races I plan to be at the expo promoting cancer screening and prevention in younger populations.

XTERRA wetsuits has already gotten on board as a sponsor and I'm thrilled!

If you would be so good as to "LIKE" my athlete page you can follow me along my journey.

Thought I'd throw an update on here. Had my first CT after 3 months of chemo and am thrilled that my cancer is shrinking. Of the two tumors in my liver one has shrunk and the other stayed the same and my lymph nodes have also shown shrinkage. Very happy! Animo!

Just read through your blog from the first link you posted.  Absolutely amazing.  Congratulations on your positive attitude, on the progress with your treatment, on your endeavors, on your training.  Thank you for sharing you with us.
