Anyone planning to run it? Or run it in the past?
This will be my first marathon.
Just looked at the elevation profile from 2014 and I'm pleasantly surprised. Besides the long slog up Forbes from Birmingham Bridge, does anything feel like a significant hill?
I've run the half marathon multiple times and the full as a relay. It's one of my favorite races.
My part of the relay was running up into Oakland from the bridge it was probably the worst part. Although the North Side isn't flat by any means.
I know when we did the relay, the last leg was basically downhill, my wife loved it.
I ran it this year and thought it was a pretty good small city Marathon. It's not going to be a Boston/NYC or Chicago but overall it was pretty good. I wrote up a race Recap on my Blog so anyone who wants to do it next year knows what to expect. I hope this helps!
I just signed up to run in the event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Pittsburgh with a goal of raising $350. My brother is a survivor and I look forward to supporting the cause in my first marathon.
I signed up for Ironman Frankfurt, next year July - and I am very excited about it. I originally planned to run my first Marathon in the middle of September, but am not sure if this is wise.
My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.
At one of my last swim sessions the week of my first Ironman, one of my training partners told me how she was envious..."your first Ironman is fun, you have no pressure and no expectations!"
I can't say it enough, the feeling of treading water for that final minute, helicopters over head, Mike Riley's Iron-voice over the P.A. - just awesome. I cannot believe I'm here!
