Anybody else doing this race? It's been a long off-season but if the SC board is dead, RIP

You won't be far away. Surprised you aren't doing a double. Must be a time conflict. Good luck in the crit. (Means don't crash)

I haven't signed up yet but am planning on doing the duathlon, making the drive up from charleston. The weather outlook looks cold. I have only race triathlons, any difference for a duathlon?

Big difference, you don't have to swim.

I'm not an expert and have only done 3 duathlons but one of them was at 27 degrees F. I dressed like I would have for a chilly bike ride. Leg and arm warmers, bennie heavy gloves. It was fine and I actually dropped a layer prior to the second run. I didn't really get miserably cold until the standing around waiting for awards part. I will definitely plan on bringing heavier layers for after the race this year. (although I doubt I will be winning any awards)

I was thinking hat, gloves, double socks, tights, jacket. Not too worried about run temps but bike will be miserable.

How hilly does the course feel? Says 1300 ft climbing and descending over the 20 miles. I have done tri's at Clemson, furman, greenville, and the dam in columbia; of that only greenville and Clemson felt really hilly.

You flatlanders are funny. The hills are farther north. The course is rolling. More than the dam tri (which is realativey flat) and similar to Clemson if you add the one steep section on the run to the bike course since to have to go up a steep, short climb. If you are planning to make a weekend trip, lookup Hotel Domestique. It is worth a visit.

I'm sure you received the e-mail saying the course has changed. I imagine it is still rolling but I can't comment on wether there is anything steep. I always remember going up but tend to forget going down. I have learned that from reversing my training rides and realizing there are significant climbs when done backwards.

It was hilly, windy, and cold but I had fun so that's all that matters

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

A quick and easy 20 minute at home strength training workout. This is a freeweight workout, so only a few dumbbells are needed.

Executing this full Ironman plan for 17 weeks would give people with one Ironman under their belts very good preparation for a 2nd and 3rd. Preferably, you should have a 6:30 or faster HIM time.

This Intermediate 20 week plan is a quick ramp up in overall volume, but with 20 weeks to train only, it is a gradual and safe approach because of the alternating weeks of the long run/bike.

The 112/4 Race Rehearsal Brick. If done correctly, the RR is usually no more stressful than a regular training ride, and that is probably the point.
