Do any of you use YakTrax or a similar product when running during winter? I am considering trying some out for running on ice covered trails. Can you recommend a a YakTrax model or other manufactures product? I would like to get a durable and functional solution to running on ice.

Thanks

Tman, this past Tuesday I broke out my new, never been worn, YakTrax and used them for a run. Everything was iced over and very slippery. You could hardly walk, much less run.

They were awesome. I didn't slide, at all. I could tell they were on my shoes, but it didn't really change anything. Everyone I passed was struggling to stay upright...even their dogs! I just ran right by them and waved, with a big, goofy grin on my face.

The model I used was The Walker. As to durability, I've only used them once, but I inspected them after my 7 mile "glacier" run and they were fine.

Thank you for the reply. I also posted this in the main forum and will see if others have any good ideas.

You could try this cheapskate idea. Some of my facebook friends in a running group posted that this worked well.
