Nothing has registered for me since someone mentioned biscuits. mmmmmmmm...

OK, back to reality:

Floorpump -  I am using a cheap Blackburn. I like it a lot, got it through BikeNashbar or Performance.

Racers, have a blast out there.

DL - Heal up.

Matt - Enjoy the heck out of the day!!!! It is the first of the best of your life.

I like that mine has the ability to pump presta, schrader, comes with a needle for sports balls annnnnd  beach toys (such as the inflatable pizza slice I just pumped up the other day)

I say eat whatever you want. If it's KFC just make sure KFC sits well with you.

My course description is "uphill both ways in the wind"

I'm not kidding. It's at a solar/wind facility in Eastern WA. I'm headed out tomorrow to camp and I am bringing my 6 year old niece with me. Wish me luck (more for the 6 year old niece than the race)

My downhill running is great. Although I haven't done downhill in about 3 weeks.

DH liked the idea of Denver Biscuit so it looks like that is the current plan.

Yay!?!? I found out the gym treadmills go up to 15%, so I'll on one of them at least once a week since mine only goes to 12%.

Looks like the family is getting split up for awhile. J accepted a job in SoCal. We're going to make the best of it in short-term. T still has a month of school left, then kids and I will be doing 3 days there/4 here.  Orange County is not where we want to be, but can't hold out for slow-moving companies (we're talking months of dragging) to get through their "processes". Still wrapping my head around it.

Pikes Peak book came. Here's my favorite pic after flipping through the pages.

Was all set to ride the Tour de Blue in Birmingham tomorrow.   Have campground reservations and the car packed and the bike loaded on the rack.    Found out this morning through social media that the race has been postponed.   Seems we are to have bad weather tomorrow and it will be state wide.    Torcon index of 5 or higher.

Was looking forward to doing it.   "Thems the breaks" in the ever so lovely spring time that is the South.

There's a book? ON the run or just about the mountain in general?

Haha yeah...that's gonna be awesome

I'm planning some more mountaineering adventures to get high as much as possible. We've got a Mountain (which I have summit-ed previously) that isn't TOO technical. I am going to SKIMO it next month but once the snow in the lower potion clears I can likely run most of it. The difference around here is that you go from sea level to 12-14K in the mountains, so, long approach. VS somewhere like Colorado where you start in the 5-8K range then go up.

*ANd yeah, that is great news...congrats J. Maybe it will just be a short term step to finding a job/location you really want. Is it in renewable energy? Isn't that something he was interested in?

Again...lots of opportunity in renewables here

Yay for J's new job but BOOOO for the separation!  I'm sure it's a relief that he has something now, but it still sucks that you have to be apart like that.

That picture is about right.  The middle of that run is gonna be brutal.  Better get all the altitude practice you can.  Even as acclimated as I am to 5,000 ft., I still notice the difference in altitude when I get above 9,000 ft.

This job thing is going to make training difficult. I'm thinking I'll have to get the sitter during the week to do any kind of trails nearby. We have a few steeper sections where I can do repeats. Then, there are several sections (passages) of the Arizona Trail down by Mt. Lemmon I'll talk J into "running" a few times when he's home. Those are highest elevation trails I can get to without driving to Flagstaff, and they top out around 9200'.

Soooo, I'm a little jealous of you and TJ

Go racers! (weird - feels like I'm toasting myself) But GO RACERS!!!

Heal up oh non healed up ones (or twos)

Congrats to J on the job! Even if the location is not ideal and a bit challenging logistically, it must feel good to make a decision to move forward with one.

Side note on my taper, managed to deaden my legs AND be an irresponsible parent at the same time last night - two-fer! Took the family to see Waters and Matt & Kim at Stubbs last night. Then went inside for a whole 'nother show and saw Mikki Ekko. Was awesome (got to hang backstage with the band and the kids got to chat with - and get some pics with - a super gracious and very talented group of musicians). Buuuuut, we got back around 1am on a school night and now we're all dragging!!!

Totes worth it.

You absolutely should toast yourself.  You deserve it!  Don't take that too literally, though.  You don't want your legs to be toast on Sunday.
