Nice win in Sarasota today Eric!

A local kid raced in the Junior Elite race and finished 15th, I have to think he's pretty happy with that.  He's worked really hard on his swim - two years ago he was probably a 15-16 min 750m swimmer and today he went 11:46, less than a minute from the front pack.

That 11.46 was probably for 900 or more.

Yeah I was thinking the same, I didn't see many times under 11 mins.

Nice to see the Canadian kids do so well. There seems to be strong balance across North America.

It would be nice to see how the North Americans stack up against the Euros.

The Canadian program is strong for sure.  I spent quite a bit of time talking to a few kids from up there, including a few sessions with Stef Daniels...what a great kid!!  The US "team" is not as organized when it comes to school and training. From what I learned, many of the Canadian kids get their schooling integrated with their training......and quite a few of them had been in Florida fort a week to acclimate to the temps.  Kudos to the national team for making that happen.  The US is WAY behind in that endeavor from what I can see.  Admittedly, I have a bit more to learn about how the process works, but I was impressed by the Canada team.

Another obseration:

The "triathlon community" in this country, for all of it's bluster and bullchit, continues to be non-existent.

This was the 4th pro event I have been to and it was even less attended by spectators that any of the other 3.....despite being a world class venue that included a field of rising stars like Eli Hemming from the US and Jeremy Brian from Canada along with 4 time Olympian Hunter Kemper. (and you too Eric, great race for your first win! )  I bet there were less than 100 spectators for the Pro race.

The people who call themselves "triathletes" in this country suck.  No, sorry....you do.  You don't support the sport past your own self-centered ambitions....which are actually laughable compared to what the sport has to offer in the way of pure athleticism and talent.  You're actually worse then the Wed. night softball beer league.......at least they support their local Pro baseball team.

It's no wonder that we lag behind the rest of the world every 4 years in the Olympics and our sport can't even beat out the "Crossfit Games" on TV.

That is all.

Do most people even know who Eli Hemming is ?

I am not sure how crapping on people's reason for being in the sport is going to help the cause.

Eric is acting like a true professional, promoting the sport the best he can. Congratulations to him. His video (with power) prompted me to look at his website and look at his race schedule. He is racing Magog and I will probably go check that out. That's how you promote the sport

Tri Quebec had pictures of the young athletes on FB, most AG athletes here see their names over and over.
Did USAT even put results on their FB ? No.

So is it really the "self centered/laughable" athletes or the people that "think" they are promoting the sport.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.
