Subject: What is Harder? FL 70.3 or Florida Challenge in Clermont?
Which bike course is harder? The IM FL 70.3 in Haines City or the Florida Challenge in Clermont? I know each have hills and especially Clermont has Sugarloaf, but overall if you have done both which did you feel gave you more to deal with?

I have done both. In general, it depends upon what your individual strengths are. Florida Challenge (FCT) has a much tougher bike and an easier run. The hills on the bike can wear you out - they are not huge, but are relentless. The run is very flat on the trail with only a minimal hill near the turnaround point. The Haines City bike course is rolling but not near as challenging. The run does have a nasty hill climb as you come out of the park (times 2 laps) area which is harder than any hill on the Florida Challenge course. Both are lake swims. I have done the FCT several times - sometimes wetsuit legal, other times not so much. The 70.3 Haines City will likely not be wetsuit legal.

Summary: Swim - draw. Bike FCT is harder. Run - Haines City is harder.

Saw your post to my question about which is harder. Thanks for the input on both events. Since you did both how did your times compare on each segment??
