Hi,

With the weather warming up, I'm looking to get some folks together for evening swims (or Friday afternoons) at Lake Jordan (Rec Area) or Falls (off 98).

The more people the better, pace not important, but anyone who joins should be comfortable with an open water swim.

Luke

Weekday evenings are hard for me, but when the summer hits, I'll be starting my bike/swim/bike weekend warrior workouts. Do you ever do weekend swims?

I ride my bike to Ebeneezer, swim for 30-60 minutes, then ride back home. I'd be happy to arrange to meet up with folks somewhere near the park for this. I ride from Chapel Hill, but could have a meeting spot somewhere like Farrington boat launch. The great thing is if you ride in,you don't have to pay the park fee. Ebeneezer is my favorite swim spot, because they have a a no boat zone with buoys that you can swim between, and use for sighting. It's really good OWS practice.

Confessions of an open water chicken. I'm OK when the water is clear and the creatures are visible; it's just when I can't see them that the panic sets in.

Stroke after stroke, my pace was pulling me out into the middle of the lake quickly. The cover seemed to be getting thicker. But still in the distance, the little boathouse was my lighthouse.

The DVD assumes little-to-no experience with competitive swimming and starts off in the pool citing the need to build confidence in a controlled environment.
