SO, I've been riding on Giants' P-SL1 wheel system. The tires are 23mm (only come in that size) and are not slippery and pretty grippy. They got a serious test in a recent duathlon on so so roads in pouring rain. I had zero issue & I've been satisified thus far. Not that many miles on them yet and zero flats. Though I am afraid to "fix" what just aint broken for me right now, I would like to move to a 25mm tire for the rolling resistance benefit. I have a few people locally who love using Gatorskins on our NYC roads, but I am also aware of everyone's opinion here about their sluggishness for use in races. Since I don't have the bankroll luxury of having TWO sets of 25mm, do I just go with Continental GP4000 SII? Or stay as is? Or is there another suggestion????
Thanks
TJ

I've used both Vittoria Rubino Pro II and Conti Gatorskins, 23mm front and 25mm rear. The Rubino Pros are light and fast. The Gatoskins are relatively slower. It sounds like you really want flat protection. You can buy tire flat protection strips to make the Rubino Pros as puncture-proof as Gatorskins for the rear wheel, and keep the front nice and light. Gatorskins take a LOT more effort to install and remove. Rubino Pros are MUCH easier to replace a flat.

Best bet is Rubino Pros, 23mm front and 25mm rear, and tire protection strip on the rear.

Actually the prime reason is to go to 25mm. As far as flat protection, those PS-L1s are quite effective at handling whatever local conditions I've put them through, so I'm not compelled to go for increased flat protection. After you mentioned, The Vittoria Rubino Pro II are actually an easier price point on the wallet compared to Conti GP2000 SII. They slightly higher rolling resistance than the Conti s2 most likely no

According to TomA roller testing the RP II are 3w slower at 18mph and 5w at 25mph, not huge but it all adds up.  With those rims you're not too worried about aero impacts so a 23F and 25R (if it fits your frame) or 25/25 setup would be good for Crr. Probikekit currently has a set of GP4k for $80 but only shows 23 or 28 being available.  Are you using latex tubes?

Rubber Tube. 25mm Conti's are harder to find right now cheap. Guess I'l throw my LBS some business. Prob pay 1-120$ for the pair. Really want to decide by weeks end, few big training rides coming up. If you had the choice would you say 23/25 or 25/25? I'm willing to part with the cash on this one

eBay has a set of 25's for $100 & free shipping.  If you can pick them up for 100-120 a pair at LBS go for it that's cheap as I can't get them locally for <$70 each.

Why not latex?  Better Crr (5-7w), less prone to flatting when properly installed.  Just carry a butyl for spare.

Make sure you're positive the GP4k 25c can fit your frame in the back, they are going to be a big tire.  TomA measured a few of the 23c at 23.9 to 24.7mm wide.

Remember if you do flat, you'll likely have to install the wheel then hit with CO2 to inflate it as the tire probably won't fit inside the brake pads at they'll be set for the 21mm wide rim.  One reason I like using the 23c tires with my 24.4mm wide FLO rims!

Yeah, my LBS are the crew who hooked me up well with the setup and fit, so i'll go discuss frame and caliper clearance. The rims I'm running are listed at 21mm wide (most likely outer measurement). I presume I am ok in that respect. I really don't want any aero loss. I am sprint focused and don't really mind the stiffness or relative harshness of a ride

Got the pair for $125 at my LBS, fit my Giant like a glove. Sunday I break em in. Going to hit some local routes I do as sprint intervals, hopefully PR them all.

So what is the best way to lose weight quickly? Do you simply "starve yourself” by eating as little as possible? The answer depends on your long-term goals.
