Subject: upgrading Sora to 105...?
Hello.

I have a 2013 Specialized Ruby that came with Shimano Sora groupset. I only had the bike for a year, just got it maintenance and nothing needed to be replaced or fixed. I did upgrade my saddle to the Specialized Oura Expert Gel and added Zipp 404 With Continental GP 4000s II. Just wanting some thoughts if I should upgrade the groupset from Sora to 105. Thanks in advance. .

BIG difference. Honestly, I hate working on bike with Sora... always a struggle to get perfectly smooth and never stays in perfect tune. 105 is very similar to Ultegra and Dura Ace, although less flashy and a bit heavier. Mechanically, it works really well

If you aren't having any problems, don't bother to upgrade.  Your money is better spent elsewhere.  My road bike is running 8-speed Sora, and while it is finicky, it doesn't stop me from holding my own on group rides and the like.  For reference, my tri-bike runs Durace Di2, which is so silky smooth it's crazy - I feel like shifting only requires a mere thought, let alone a button press.

Every time I see a deal on a 10-speed Ultegra groupo, I think about dropping the money to upgrade my roadie, and then I stop myself and think why?  It works, and I can just put that money towards another bike or other gear (or, you know, lame expenses like groceries or gas . . .).
