My seatpost is completely stuck in the frame so I am unable to move it.  It is an aluminium frame with a steel (I presume) seatpost.  Any ideas?

spray some anti-seize down there and see if that loosens it up. Also try a twisting motion (if it's a normal round seatpost of course) that can often break it loose. If neither of those are going well and it's all steel/aluminum, you can smack on it with a rubber mallet. (even if you knock it in further, that should loosen it up)

All great recommendations. Another thing to try if all else fails is using a hot air gun on the frame to get it to expand ever so slightly, then use the rubber mallet.

This is why you need to use anti-seize paste on a steel post in an aluminum frame...

No luck so far and I've given it some pretty hefty hits with a mallet.  Any other ideas?

Take it to a bike store with good mechanics... Although there's a chance that you're simply hosed... once the oxidation builds up on the aluminum frame, it can be almost impossible to get the post out.

I'm going to let you in on how to get faster by doing nothing. Well, not exactly nothing, but you won't have to raise your heart rate, put out 300 watts, or really even break a sweat.

Imagine gliding on a fresh stick of butter just placed on a hot frying pan. Now imagine sliding along an isolated country road almost effortlessly. You’ve just imagined yourself on a Javelin Narni.
