Simple rules. Who wants to run at least 1,000 miles in the year? Join in and report on your progress. Some people will definitely have higher goals and that is ok. But the thread is for all those that want to at least hit the 1,000 mile mark in running (or walking or run/walking).

I modified the spreadsheet located at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17VWciD8tPAvVijWJG9mhn3bNpUQk... (Not sure how much longer we can keep using the spreadsheet so if anyone wants to revamp, please do so.) The pace rabbit is currently at 328.77 miles.

I'm behind at 290 miles. Not remotely where I should be but not as bad as I feared.

I am currently at 423.5 according to Garmin, and I have yet to run today. That's going to put me on pace for about 1300 miles.

Sure, I'll try again.  I am almost 200 miles behind right now, but what the heck, IM training has just begun

I'm in. Tried in 2014 and didn't make it, and I'm running about 200 miles short for 2015. Maybe this will motivate me to run more!

I am in for this. My log has me in for only 73 miles to date - I am really bad at logging my runs - that number would be more 300 if I did. Even so, with about 33 weeks left in the year it is about 28 miles a week which will be nice. Maybe this will force me to actually log my activities!

I'm in - thanks for starting the challenge.

In 2014 my goal was 1000 miles and I got to 1176. So this year I have upped my target to 1243 miles (2000 km). I'm currently sitting at 515 miles for the year.

OK, I can't resist getting a little anal...

I've changed the formulas at the top do calculations based on a 365 day year. It was set for a 366 day year - I'm guessing that the formulas were originally entered for a leap year.

Some people appear to be using column B for current mileage, while other people are using column C. Not a big deal either way but the bar graph won't work for everyone if we don't agree on the column to use. My suggestion is column C since it already has the heading labelled "Current Mileage". If there are no objections I can move things around a little to tidy this up.

In Column B, beside my name I have entered a formula for my personal Pace Rabbit. Since my goal isn't 1000 miles I need a different pace rabbit. If others enter their goal mileage in column E, they can copy my formula. Or I can do it for anyone that hates spreadsheets.

In column J, I have entered a formula to estimate the mileage for 2015 based on the average for the year so far.

Still acting anal and sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
Today is day 136 - your current pace works out to be more like 1137 miles for the year.
423.5*(365/136) = 1137

Please modify away!!! Think I set the spreadsheet 2 or 3 years ago and now can't remember squat on how to change. Please change anyway and we can confirm.

Couple of weeks ago, I was about 40 miles behind Bugs. Gained slightly but not much. Hoping to catch the pesky rabbit in mid July. Trying to figure out the safest approach to getting my mileage up.

Thanks Pink Socks.
I have made some revisions. I think/hope that it all makes sense to someone other than me, but please let me know if there are questions or parts that you don't like.
In the "Ahead/Behind Pace Rabbit" column I have used black for ahead and red for behind. If the red is too harsh I will change it back to black.

Looks great to me.  I like the red [while not liking it at the same time if you know what I mean ].  I suspect mine will be red for the better part of, if not all of, the year, but it will be motivational!!

I think I'm in on this. My forecasted mileage by august should be near 800, but I have to dig up my training logs from a backup hard drive since my computer crashed in March. I don't do the BT logs, just my own spreadsheet. Will update soon..

Glad you like it. Thanks for the feedback.
Just noticed the pace rabbit is at exactly 400 miles today (May 26).
I also noticed that there's a lot of red in the "ahead/behind" column.

I just put myself in the spreadsheet. Jan/Feb were pretty slow for me but got back on the horse in March so I'll be catching up to that rabbit soon

I got a cold that keps me from making headway on the rabbit's lead. Currently 38.5 miles behind the rabbit who is at 435.62. Congrats Don for being the only one that isn't in the red.

I'm in this year again.  Going to go with a goal of 1,750 miles.  I don't think I can hit 2,000.

It's a bit late in the year but I have a good start =).

Hit 275 miles yesterday.  I'm way at the back of the pack, but starting to pick up some speed!  Hope everyone is doing well.

Glad to have the new people!!! Welcome.

I had calculated I would catch the pace rabbit around the 4th of July. Then I hurt by back last week. Spent 5 days with no running and finally decided that not running was not helping therefore might as well run. Going slowly (to reduce impact) and walking steeper inclines down and up so I won't aggravate it. But hopefully I can catch the rabbit sometime in the month of July.

Hit 500km (310 miles) yesterday.  I was reminded (by my body) a couple weeks ago that I do better when I run more times per week, so have started throwing in some short recovery runs.

Pam, hope your back is feeling better!

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
