Subject: New to the Triathalon World
Hi All!

New to the triathlon world. Did my first race last weekend. It was a 15K Mountain Bike 10K trail run and 5K kayak. If was my first time on a mountain bike so that was an adventure. Especially because the course was a rain soaked mud pile. Never the less the triathlon itch was placed and now I am hooked. So far all of my training is mainly in the gym. I'm up to about 5-7 miles running pretty easily. 20-25 miles biking on a stationary. I quit swimming a couple of months ago leading up to this race to work on the row machine in preparation for the kayak. So any recommendations on training, equipment and races are greatly appreciated. I have yet to buy a road bike and am working on a limited budget but would love some recommendations. Thank you all in advance for any input and encouragement.

God Bless,
Newbie2015

Welcome to BT and CONGRATS on your race!

My advice would be to post specific questions in Triathlon Talk about training, bike recommendations, etc. You'll get plenty of answers that way.

My expectations for the quality of this years’ Triathlon world championship were fulfilled. This was because of the superb location that is like no other along with having the top triathletes present.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
