Subject: Swim Plan Question
Curious about what my priority should be in following my swim plan... I'm not fast enough to keep up with it.If the plan says 2500m in 45minutes should I stop at 45 minutes or swim the full set in however long it takes (>45min)?My goal is an iron distance lake swim in August. Thanks in advance for any feedback you can offer.

IMHO, Distance matters.  There's nothing magical for the time duration unless you happen to hit the mark based on your pacing.

I agree. It is the distance as the primary metric with the time as more of a benchmark goal. I tend to need about 15-20% longer to complete planned workouts if I stick to the yardage.

during the week in my morning swim workouts, I have to cut the yardage short because I have to get to work but on the weekends I do the full yardage regardless of how long it takes me.

I would stick to the distances in the plan.

My problem is I can only swim about 30-40 meters without having to rest. What is the best way to improve this? I need to get from 40 to 750 meters in 6 months.
