So I have to pick one of 2 job opportunities, one in Austin, one in Orlando. I've only ever been to Orlando as a kid when we did the family pilgrimage to Disney world, but I've heard its nice to actually live there. I do like Austin very much. Anyone care to sway me in either direction?

Definitely Orlando!  We have too many people in Austin already and none of us like it here.

I LOVE Florida... but not so much Orlando. I haven't spent a ton of time there, though. Being within 60 miles of a beach again would be fantastic.

I'd probably lean towards Austin. But it really depends on what you want in a city.

Water. I think I was a fish in a previous life, that's one of the pros of living in florida. I watched Richard Linklater's "Slacker" last night. Very interesting view of Austin...

I do fantasize about moving back to FL... except when I'm riding my bike I don't think Orlando is that bad, but Ft Lauderdale / Miami was sketchy as heck on the roads.

For Florida... this race series is awesome (or at least their predecessor was): http://flxadventures.com/

Also, flying into/out of Orlando is often stupid cheap.

And there's nothing quite like a quiet beach during hurricane season - LOVE summer there.

Orlando has a nice mix of small town and larger city. Tourists run amuck in some parts of it, but if you live there, you learn what to avoid. Clermont is one of the premier training areas, especially in the winter. If my swimming ever gets up to speed, I'd love to do Lucky's Lake.

From what I hear, Austin has a food and music scene that rivals anywhere else in the US. SXSW is enough to make me want to live there.

I think you won't go wrong with either, but it all depends on what you like. Oh yeah, the job part kinda matters too

Well, Austin it is. It was a really tough decision and I teetered back and forth many times. Florida will have to wait for another time, and now I can go to Barton Springs every day

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.
