Subject: Need opinions on Tri bike for sale?
Hi new to this thread,

New to the sport of tri's and would really like to get a tri bike so i do not have to use my road bike for competitions. Someone in my local area is selling his tri bike via Facebook and I wanted some opinions on if it is a good deal since I'm not all to familiar with value of tri bikes.

Unable to get the pictures loaded but the description is frame 2012 special edition fuji d-6 with (from the seller):

"Built this bike up from the frame. Zipp Vuka cockpit w/ new zipp stem. SRAM red 10 speed-shifters & deraillers. Quarq power meter w/ FSA cranks. Vuelta sl wheel set. New sella tri saddle. I've done IM Texas & multiple 70.3s on this bike. It's s solid bike that's won lots of hardware for me. Hate to get rid of it but moving to electronic shifting. Price is firm".

My concerns is if this is a good buy?
I don't know too much about fuji and if this is a good frame and/or if the wheels are even worth taking with the bike since they most likely need to be upgraded. Since this is a custom build, its hard to find the MRSP value of such bike. The asking price is $2,200. Any help is appreciated, thanks!!!

Personally I think this is a good value. I've always loved the look of the D6 personally. It has decent components, cockpit and a PM. I think it's worth it if you like it.

I ride a Fuji Altamira. My experience, e.g., bombing downhill at close to 50 MPH, tells me that it's a well-built & reliable ride.

I also think the Fuji is a good deal (at least it looks like it's in good shape).

Nicely equipped and a decent deal if it fits you. And that's the issue -- if it doesn't fit you, then it's not a good deal regardless of the asking price. Since you said you're new to the sport, then likely you don't know whether it does. At the very least, go to an online fit utility and plug in your numbers and see what comes out. It it's a good fit, from there it may just be a matter of stem and saddle swaps to dial it in for yourself. If the numbers are way off of what this bike provides, then it'd be best to wish the seller luck and keep looking.

The componentry and power meter alone are worth half of the asking price alone, if I'm seeing that right. I don't care for the looks of the bike, but I would say the price is reasonable.

Looks like a reasonable deal to me, if it fits.

The wheels, use the back one for a winter trainer wheel? :p

After I left the running store, I couldn't stop thinking about the sprint tri and how much of a challenge it would be for me. So instead of joining a gym, I started riding my bike and it felt great.
