Hello all!

My name's Ian and in roughly 6 weeks I'll be participating in my first Sprint Triathlon...

Originally this year I was training for a half marathon but I kept walking past my bike hanging in my garage collecting dust and decided to scrap the half idea and push myself to join a Triathlon. I'm a decent runner and a great rider so I'm not too worried about those legs of the race but similar to most, the open water scares me a tad. Our pool is finally opening this weekend so I'll be getting in there to do some training. Is swimming twice a week for 5/6 weeks enough?! Just want to survive the swim not break any records...

Any other members doing the "War at the Shore" on July 12th in Long Branch, NJ?!

Welcome to BT!  Lots of good, helpful folks here.

I would suggest swimming as much as you can between now and the race; 3 or 4 times a week if you can manage it.  It would be great to get in some OW practice also if you a bit nervous about that.

Good luck.

Mark

I had read the articles on BT, I'd trained, and I thought I had prepared. There were, however, a few things that I didn't internalize despite what I'd been told.
