Running my second race ever tomorrow (400m swim, sprint distances for run and bike) a year and a week after my first one.

Just like last year, I am totally unprepared due to injuries ( foot, calf, back) and beer drinking (just came back from a nice trip to London UK).

On the plus side, I have red cells in my blood this time, while I was suffering from anemia last year.

My total time last year was 1:50 or something. Swim 11 minutes, bike 50 and run (well, walk, mostly) 40 plus rather long transitions.

This year I am aiming for 10min swim, 45 bike and 30 run. Plus 5 minutes max for both transitions together.

Wish me luck!!

Thanks! The swim was cancelled because it was too cold in the air (6 degrees Celcius, no idea what it is in F). We ran 1.2k instead. Total time 1:26:31, which was my goal with the swim (although I would have been happy with anything under 1:30), so a little slower considering I ran the 1,2k under 6 minutes and the swim would have taken at least 10. Still, I am quite happy, as I haven't been able to run for 6 weeks so was absolutely not prepared. Very satisfied with my bike time, 8 minutes better than last year, on the same bike (hybrid with treaded tyres)

Next one, a super sprint in July, then another sprint in August.

Loving it!

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?

After I left the running store, I couldn't stop thinking about the sprint tri and how much of a challenge it would be for me. So instead of joining a gym, I started riding my bike and it felt great.

I couldn’t help but feel that the race had beaten me. Perhaps duathlons were more for me? No, I was more determined than ever to succeed. I was determined to get on top of my swimming.

This life of mine is not so different from yours. It has a multitude of similarities. I suffer from uncertainty, I get nervous at the thought of registering and when getting to the starting line.

I am not going to buy a tri-suit before my first tri - I want to make sure I am going to stick with this before I spend a lot of money on it so I want to figure out what will work best.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.
