I have a road bike and am contemplating getting aerobars. I'm still fairly new to triathlons (sprint & Olympic distances). So I'm 5'4", but I have a short torso & long legs and heard the reach to the aerobars might be tough.
Is it worth it to get the aerobars still?
Anyone have any luck with aerobars with similar body types?
I'm only 5'6" and I don't have aerobars, but on the spin bike, I move the saddle forward so I can get into aero position when simulating a downhill. I'd assume you can do that on a road bike as well. If not, you can go to a local bike shop to get some adjustments done.
Some aerobars (for example Profile Design's T2+) have independently adjustable armpads (as opposed to pads that are attached to the clamps). This way you can move the armpads back further behind your handlebar, which will allow you to get a proper position.
I'm 5'4" with fairly short arms and have the Profile Design T3+ Carbon aero bars on my road bike. I have no issues with reach whatsoever. I'd say you will likely be fine.
