Subject: Miami 70.3 Advice
I am planning on racing the Miami 70.3 this coming Oct. and I'm wondering:
1) how quickly does it fill up (should I just bite the bullet and pay the fee now or do I have some wiggle room on registration?)
2) Any general advice for racing in the Miami heat?

I think they send out notices when it gets close, but it is SO crowded I'd be amazed that they actually limit entries    Huge transition.

You can get De Soto cooling gear, works OK in humid weather but not great. I wore arm coolers, seemed to help.  recently got a cooling shirt from them, has pockets on the spine to put ice in.  Worked great at Silverman

Carry a bottle and fill it with the ice they have at every station, you'll always have cold water.  Put iit down your shirts and under your cap as well.  It's mostly exposed, but there is a tiny bit of shade after you turn off the bridge for the out and back (assuming they didn't change the course)

Of course, drink enough on the bike so you don't get dehydrated.

It sold out on August 18th last year and I have a vague recollection of it being mid September the year before.

I just finished the NYC marathon on Sunday and I think I'm going to venture into triathlons. I am doing an Olympic distance and I want to do a 70.3 next year too. Any advice?

Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
