Hi everyone,
just did my first IM70.3 this weekend
(my second triathlon after a sprint a few months earlier
). Finished in 5:28
(33min swim, 2:56 bike, 1:50 run
).
I'm very happy with the results, given that 10 months ago I could barely run 10k with a 6:30 min/km pace, never tried a road bike before, and could swim only 50m with a technique that remotely looked like freestyle
Now that this is in the bag, I am wondering whether I could go and shoot for another milestone shortly - sub 5hrs - in 8 weeks. Thinking of signing up for the Budapest IM 70.3, as it is very flat.
My thinking so far:
Swim: Keep the swim time
(although I swam 100m extra due to poor sighting, and thought I had plenty left for a faster swim
)
Bike: Budapest will have a flat bike course. My first IM 70.3 was 800m of climbing, and had quite a bit of wind. Hope that on a flat + less windy course I can do a 2:40 split at least. Does that sound realistic? Additionally, I will also adjust my road bike position to get lower on the aero bars
(remove some spacers
).
Run: Shave off at least 7min in the run. During the run, I felt that I had physical energy left but just could not push myself mentally to dig deeper. Could work on that.
Transitions: Save 5min in transition time
(took 8min in T1, 6min in T2
) by better practicing it.
What do you guys think, good plan? Feasible?
Thanks a lot!
