And you have the option of bike turn-in the day before...or you can bring it in the morning....
And it's a fairly large race (Muncie) and you've never done it before and you're not sure about parking/hike to transition....

Weighing the rain effect (if much?) on chain/other lubed parts....vs. the lessened hassle of toting it to transition....

Do you leave it and let it get wet...or deal with the extra hassle?

Keeping in mind:
-I'm not going to win any awards
-It's a nice, but not more than a $1200 road bike, that just got a new wheel and all lubed up.

I guess additional variables would be:

Scenario A:
-Bike remains dry on drive to Muncie.

Scenario B:
-Bike gets wet on the way and the best I can do is a quick chain cleaning/oiling once I get there.

I don't see it as any extra hassle bringing the bike in the morning of the event.

The rain really won't have any effect on the bike, however if I were you I would just bring it the morning of the event.

I live near Seattle. A wet bike is no big deal. Wet from rain is trivial.

My suggestion: set your bike up in transition the night before as you normally would. Tape a plastic trash bag around the crank and chain, and over the seat.  Use tape - bags are always blowing around transition from people who didn't.  Take them off race morning.  This is super common in local races.

Leave your bike overnight. Bikes can handle being wet. You don't need to cover them.

Iron distance racing depends on the three pillars of pacing, nutrition and mental outlook. Training these three areas can significantly improve your race.

How do I know if my cleats need to be adjusted? And how do you know in which direction to adjust them? I have been having medial knee pain and edema but my LBS says the cleat placement is fine.

I have pedals with the cage and when I ride 2+ hours my legs feel much more tired then if I took out my husband's bike with clipless pedals. Do clipless pedals truly make the difference?

I started riding this spring with the Carnac shoes on Look pedals (with plenty of float). About five minutes into a ride I get sharp pain on the outer edge of my feet, just behind the pedal.
