Subject: Arms tired and sore in running part
I am looking for your advice for the running part of triathlon. My arms - up to the elbow - feel very tired and almost sore-like when I'm running after swimming and biking.
I am trying to figure out if it's swim or bike part that causes it.
For swimming:
I swim breaststroke (I am learning crawl, but my technique is not proper yet to use it in the upcoming races) and am doing push-ups to build stronger arms/chest/back muscles.
For biking:
My friend told me she supports her body more by her spine and back muscles than arms when she's cycling. I think my position on the bike my not be the best. I am new to road bike and love it, but it seems like there is a lot in bike's specific's and position, that is a key.

Thank you guys for you feedback!
Mary

Since you mention road bike position, are your elbows locked while riding? This, in addition to be terrible for riding, will add a great deal of stress to your upperbody while riding.

If you have a picture of you on the bike, we may be able to provide more insight.

Of course, it might just be getting used to the sport, building fitness across all three sports and since the run comes last, you feel the worst for that leg. Like in a longer running race where you tend to tense up when fatigued, you may be help to help the situation just by focusing on staying relaxed through your face and upperbody.

I think it's normal to feel pain at first since you are new to this. sometimes, not proper work out is the reason. You have to be extra careful, running is not just running. You must at least try to avoid any muscles strains, or bone fractures if possible. consider also the proper protection gear.
