Subject: IM plan starts in february, but what until then?
Im going to get a gold plan to train for my IM next year (august 20 2016, getting my tickets on sunday).
What would you suggest me do until then, during my winter. What other plan would be good ramping up for IM plan?
I completed 4 tri this year and one of them was a 70.3 wich ive been training for a year. Been doing between 6-10 hour per week of training since last year. Should i just continue what im doing or get a special plan? Normally in the winter time i do a lot more long runs and long bike, not so much speed work.

I'd do some light workouts. Do what you feel like doing, have fun, enjoy the downtime. Rest is good.

The IM training is a long one, and you need to be mentally ready for it. If you don't take the downtime, you won't feel as anxious to get going when Feb rolls around. By the time you get to the last 3 months of the plan, you can start feeling burned out at times. Especially the last 2 months.

So that's why I say enjoy your downtime.

I would focus on my weakest discipline and do some sort of periodized plan. Feb is a long way off. I'd go easy in January before I started the plan, but until then I would probably train pretty hard. It's the volume of IM training that will burn you out. If you are focusing on one discipline, and maintaining in others you should be able to keep your volume within reason.

Getting a coach would probably be the best way to go if you have the means.

You haven't listed your race results so I couldn't determine which discipline might be a weak spot for you.  However, I would use the late fall/winter to elevate your bike fitness.  Too many people spend the winter muddling through doing easy workouts.  Check out the BT gold 8 week winter maintenance BIKE focus plan or the 16 week winter bike program also found on BT.  The 16 week program has options for using either HR or power to structure workouts.  Additionally, if you are a slow swimmer some one on one sessions in the pool with a coach to look at your stroke during winter would be money well spent.  Good luck!
