Subject: Programme Advice
Hi

Im doing a 70.3 in late January 2016 and would like some advice on how to alter my training programme (with regards to workload and periodization) given that I have a series of commitments in the lead up to the race. These are

1) A Marathon on 15 November (I assume that running mileage would need be added with extra recovery as well???)

2) A three week vacation in December (training time, facilities and equipment will be limited)

If the marathon would a complete hinderance to me I could substitute it with a 20KM trail run race on 10 October.

Thanks in advance and happy training!

Limited training time during a 3 week vacation?!?!      I would make that a 3 week run focus period if you don't have your bike with you and pool access is limited.   Three weeks is a long time to slack off in the month prior to a 70.3.  Good luck!

Using a high-volume schedule for many months is not the best tactic. Build speed and skill several months out, and then transition to a high-volume IM plan.

Honey, great news. I just spent our kids’ college fund on a new bike! The sales guy said it will shave at least 3 seconds off my 40K time. Umm, honey why do you have a knife in your hand???

A lot of my unnecessary troubles and tribulations were because of my defiance, acting on my own naïveté and strong will. I was not acting on the advice given to me.
