Back hurt and shins hurt after downhill section. Kept pace low and did frequent walk breaks until pain subsided.

Run harder (hurting but not hurt).

Back pain. Didn't push hard enough - especially on the run.

I really enjoy this race! It is well organized with a good course, a great atmosphere, and lots of prizes at the end.

Scott - Nice race!  Sounds like a good swim and decent bike.  You were wise to ease up a bit on the downhill to protect your back and shins.  It doesn't look like the walking or downhill caution cost you too much time.  Well done.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

I looked at the swim buoys and start thinking, "Man! How am I ever going to swim that? That looks like a very long distance from the bridge. I have never done it in one go." There's no turning back.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).
