My girlfriend and I will be in the NoVA area and do not want to miss a ride. Is there any place to rent bikes that is close to a trail? Preferably in Arlington.

What kind of bike are you looking for? If just a leisurely tourist ride check out Capital Bikeshare.

If you're looking for something more serious, Big Wheel Bikes in Arlington is right off the Custis Trail. I've never rented from them but I've looked into it before. Not the cheapest but if you're looking for proximity to a trail in Arlington you can't beat their location.

Thanks, I'll check out Big Wheel Bikes.

Although, putting in 35 miles on a Capital Bikeshare bike would be challenging...

The triathlon bike vs. road bike quandary. Before you even ask the road bike vs. tri bike question, you should have a couple sprint triathlons or duathlons under your belt.
