So I am planning my 2016 season and I realized that I live about equal distance to Wildflower and the Auburn Triathlon (known as the world's toughest half). I have done Wildflower before; I love the atmosphere and I would love to do it again but I also would like to see a different race. So, which one is better and which one would you like to do most?

About another 6 more miles of climbing after this "wall", then some more thrown in.  At least the run is kind of flat!

You think that run is kind of flat, or did you forget the sarc font?

Word of caution, Lake San Antonio has been hit by the drought very very hard and is below 5% capacity. When I did the mountain bike sprint in 2014 the swim was 2 miles away from the main transition area and the OIympic/Long course athletes had to run from the swim to the transition area before starting the bike. Fortunately the 2 mile "transition" run was subtracted from the final run section after the bike.

If you take a look at the pictures in my race report  you can see the water levels in 2013 (great!) compared with 2014. Sadly there wasn't much more rain leading up to 2015 and the water levels are still just as low.

Wildflower IF there is enough water to have the regular swim into T1; otherwise Auburn.

Do Savageman! Do it. I live in the area and have done the 30 twice, then did the 70 this year (no brick). It was Sooooo much harder than the other HIM that I have done. It was painful. I wanted to quit at least 3 times. I am doing it again next year.

Also, the bike course is spectacular. There are fantastic descents on closed roads, minimal traffic on the rest of the roads, and the scenery is really lovely.
