Gooooood morning BT!  It's my Friday...yay me.  Tomorrow I get to do an 8 hour round trip for a cross country meet--it's what we do in northern Nevada!

4:30am:  5 mile run with some tempo stuff thrown in the middle

5:30am:  30 minute series of pullups/pushups/squats/core

SUSAN!!!  Congrats on the race win!  That's fantastic! Can't wait to read the race report!

Have an awesome day guys!

Our Tri club has organised a yoga session tonight, so I'm off to that

I did a yoga class on Tuesday, Shakeybear. I think it helps balance the tri training. (pun intended )
Just a short bike commute today and a short run at lunchtime. Maybe a bit of core / strength work this evening.

Thanks Kim! It was pretty cool! Don't know if it will every happen again so I'm enjoying the feeling! I put my write up in the race report section of BT if you want to have a read. Remember - I'm not a writer . Have a great trip tomorrow!

5:15am - 60 min power spin. Hamstring still tight and annoying me so took some of the harder efforts a bit easier.

8:45am - 3800yd swim

So my coach had on the plan to do 38x100.

Ummm no.

The last time I tried a workout that was 18x100 I about had a mental breakdown at the 12th one. Maybe that's the point, but it was so miserable that the thought of doing double that wasn't exactly positive.

I bagged that idea and found a similar workout for the same week in my Ironfit book. Gave me the same amount of yardage but my mental state was intact when I finished. I'm considering that a win! My swim is at the point where I don't think I'm gaining anything by pushing intervals that I can't hit (which frustrates me and tends to ruin my mood for the rest of the day), so I'm happy just getting the distance in and whatever happens in the race - so be it. May not be the best attitude, but I have to find a middle ground where I'm not pissed off all the time because my workouts suck.

Now waiting for my massage lady to get here - need to get my hamstring working right again so hoping it will help!

6:15 a.m.- 40 min. run with the cross country team
6:15 p.m.- Bike workout with the tri team
On Tuesday, I got my bike power measured at 197 for 8 minutes. One of my coaches tested himself, too and got 355!

It was surprisingly enjoyable. An hour of stretching and relaxation postures. Went down really well with the group. First experience of Yoga, ready for the next.
Pretty sure I'll feel some of the stretches tomorrow.

Not sure if it would help or what your comfort level with other strokes is but....If I have a huge set of 100's (like more than 10!), I switch to another stroke or IM (one length each stroke) for every 5 until the last one. For 20 X 100, #5, 10, and 15 will be IM. It helps me count, breaks up the monotony(I look forward to swimming something else) and lets me work some different muscles, which I think makes my free more efficient. Maybe not an entirely authentic simulation of the IM swim, but neither is stopping at every 100. I just feel like swimming is swimming and you're still developing endurance.

Not much here, due to 13-hour work day (parent conferences). One hour run AM, five hours of teaching followed by 7 of talking with parents. Now on to another 8 hours of it today. Ugh. The hard part is actually the sitting, not (most of) the parents!

I'm on the other side of the college-student desk. I'm the one with the red pen in my hand. Those of us with schedules that change from day to day actually have an advantage, I think.
