Good morning BT!

4:45am:  30 minute power walk just to get legs moving a bit

5:15am:  :45 minutes strength training + core

Susan--are your kids at a year round school? Is fall break an entire week?

Have a great week everyone!

Good night Vietnam (and BT)!

3200m of swimming here, nothing else to report. (That was plenty!)

We have a week of fall break here next week. (Off to Laos for kayaking.) In theory we're not a "year round" school, but our summer break is only about six weeks (seven or eight for kids). We also get three weeks at Christmas, a week and a half at Tet (VN New Year), and a week in the spring, plus a few 4-5 day weekends. It's not a bad schedule. Do miss being home in the Northwest in August though--weather is beautiful and there are so many good races then.

I wish I could go kayaking in Laos. That sounds awesome!

4 and change mile run for me today. Check out the leftover salt on my hat from all the sweating. My goal by the time i get to my next race is to have enough salt on my hat that I can crinkle it over my dinner to season my food.

Have, for a number of reasons, had to change my schedule around, so Monday is my new rest day!

Kinda glad, as legs a little smashed from yesterday.

Sports massage tomorrow, then I'm back on it.

Have a great week.

Hey there!

First day of Fall Break - yes, we do have the entire week off - and next Monday as well. AND my 10 year old keeps asking what we are gonna do - oh boy. It would be nice if we had any travel plans, but since I have training and classes and my husband couldn't take any time off, we are here and figuring out how to spend the time.

Tough weekend so today was something easy.
8:45 - 30 min of ST - body weight exercises and core work
9:30 - 45 min spin

Now to keep the kiddos busy! We don't have year round school but a few long breaks.

Fall break is 1 week +1 Monday
Winter Break is 3 weeks
Spring Break is 1 week

Along with a lot of 3 day weekends/early releases etc etc.

Happy Columbus Day!
Not as happy for me because I had to go to school anyway. The first day of school was postponed two days for elevator repairs, so two days off have to come off of the schedule. Run and swim intervals tonight on my own (no tri team workout today because of, you guessed it, Columbus Day). Hopefully there isn't a football game tonight so I can go to the track.

P.S. It's not August, and the 7th was not May

It was a fun and relaxing weekend with football and golf. Today was a 45minute run with intervals, 2200 yards in the pool and 45 minute bike ride with intervals.

The weather can't make up its mind if its summer or fall. I am ready for cooler weather.

I hope everyone enjoys their fall breaks.

Susan- I missed several days. How was your race?

Kim- How is football going?

I could handle kayaking in Laos too. Feel free to post pics. Thailand and Vietnam are on the bucket list of traveling.

Such a nice feeling to finish a set of fast 800s at the track knowing you probably could have managed one more. Not so nice to get home and look at your training plan, only to realize...you were supposed to do one more. FAIL!!!

Thinking I'll make it up by throwing a half-mile pickup into my long run this week. Or maybe not...

Thanks for asking! Race was tough, very small field (rated the hardest sprint and OLY tri's in Arizona). Very steep inclines but I came in 1st overall female! Was pretty exciting!

My work today ended up taking longer than I thought, so I only had ~20 minutes in the pool before I needed to get home for dinner with the family.

1200 yards:
250 warm up w/pull buoy @ 3:30
2x100 @ 2:00 (1:25 goal)
2x50 @ 1:00 (0:37 goal)
Rest
2x50@1:00 (0:37 goal)
2x100 @ 2:00 (1:25 goal)
250 cool downw/pull buoy @ 3:30
100 backstroke to make it an even 1200 (I have a weird OCD that makes my brain want to do swims in factors of 600)

I recently started doing more speed/interval work vs. long continuous swims. I have found that my rotaor cuff in my right shoulder is worse than i thought. I injured it about 7 years ago in a snowmobiling accident and it took nearly six months to build back up. I tweaked it goofing around on a diving board about two months ago (just one month before my Oly Tri) and I thought it was mostly healed. I guess not. It seems to flare up when I try to go faster than a 1:30 pace per 100.

Luckily I know all the right rehab exercises from when i sprained it years ago and have started doing those almost every day. Hoping to build it up better than ever this winter.
