The out front mount that comes with a garmin (520) is it possible to mount on the extensions on tri bike? I tried to use the garmin mount but the extensions are too slim. For races I use a xlab torpedo set up so I can mount it to that. Training I don't use it so trying to figure out how to mount it farther out. Currently it's on the extension with the regular stem mount and that kind of irratates my wrist.

These things work great, I suggest the XL version, the short one is quite short (1")

Thanks I was hoping the mount that came with it would work but I'll have to look into these options.

Use caution with the profile design computer mount. I had my garmin fenix 2 "securely" mounted with this and a garmin watch mount. 52 miles in on a bumpy ironman Racine course, the threads let loose on the profile design mount and the whole unit hit the ground. I lost a minute of time circling back to get it and then had to hold onto the mount/watch for the next 4 miles. I don't have a better alternative right now(way it mounts is slick) but if you use one keep an eye on the mount...especially in rough conditions

why not just use the X-lab torpedo for training? You don't have to put the bottle on there just use the mount.

I don't really have a good answer for that.  I thought about it briefly but figured if I kept in on there it all the time the straps would fall apart quickly.

I have X-labs torpedo on my tri bike, but I do not use the straps. It bounced too much for my likings with the straps. I use zip ties instead and replace them twice a year.

I like this mount but didn't pull the trigger. I asked my brother who has a friend who works with plastic and cf if he could make the bar that connects the extensions. http://www.trisports.com/trisports-torpedo-bta-mount-100.html

There is always the day method of a short piece of pic between the extension. I have a piece held in place with nylon cable ties, right between the shifters.

I use the Profile Design HC mount for my XLab torpedo. They are aluminum crossbars that you zip tie to your aero bars...provides a secure mount for your torpedo cage.

I also use the Zipp Quickview TT computer mount for my Garmin...works very well with my 500.
