Looks like SetupEvents is expanding its race reportoire...They've announce a new series to be held in State Parks. I'm excited b/c it offers more variety to the current setup, and the "50" distance races look sweet!

Here's the sched:

Hanging Rock "Sprinter" - April 30, 2016
Distance: "Sprinter"
Hanging Rock State Park (20 miles north of Winston-Salem)

Lake James "50" - May 14, 2016
Distance: 50 Miles (S - 1 mile, B - 40 miles, R - 9 miles)
Lake James State Park (1 hour east of Asheville - off I-40)

Lake Norman "Sprinter" - August 20, 2016
Distance: "Sprinter"
Location: Lake Norman State Park (30 miles north of Charlotte)

Sandling Beach "50" - September 24, 2016
Distance: 50 Miles (S - 1 mile, B - 40 miles, R - 9 miles)
Falls Lake State Recreation Area (Sandling Beach) 20 miles north of Raleigh

Poplar Point Sprinter - October 8, 2016
Distance: "Sprinter"
Jordan Lake State Recreation Area (Poplar Point) 20 miles west of Raleigh

I saw that. Looks like fun. A lot of driving for some of them though.

Having grown up around Hanging Rock, that is going to be a cold but absolutely pristine swim and the bike down and back up the mountain will be loads of fun.

2 weeks after Boston, but I am going to have to work it in.

I just drove the course (bike) today, in my vehicle.

Not for me (this race). I'm more afraid of the descents than I am the climbs. I hope everyone gets through this race, safely. I'd love to do the swim and run, but that bike course is out of my league.

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

The consensus is that caffeine does enhance performance and decreases perceived exertion in endurance exercise. There are no significant performance benefits in short, high-intensity exercise.

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.

The Boulder Peak bike course is legendary. It is, literally and named as such, one of the toughest bike legs in the country.
