I'm looking at 2 wet suits. don't wan to go cheap, but don't want a cheap suit either, if that makes sense.

Anyone used either one of these? Feedback please!

Thanks,

They are both good suits.  I've been using an Orca Alpha for about five years and love it.  Anyway you can get in somewhere and try a few different suits on?  I have found that the cut can vary from one brand to the next and some just feel better than others.

both excellent suits, but it is the fit that matters

tried on both today. of course the blue seventy which cost more fit better. it's snug but not tight.

the neck had a little play in it. is that normal? I didn't try to pull the velcro tighter than just laying it over.

You should not have any gaps in the neck that would allow water to enter.

Roka wetsuits are all on 50% off right now. They have been for over a month so some sizes might be sold out. The Roka Pro and Elite are at least as good as those and way cheaper right now.

I got a half price Elite and it was over a minute faster for 500m than my old Ironman suit. I also got a swim skin for 50% off

Thanks for the heads up.

I just ordered a helix. got a great deal on it. I had a hard time finding a place that had a decent section to try on, so I going to do this online and hopefully it works out.

This is not exactly true.  A wet suit is designed to let in a thin layer of water. That provides an insulating layer between you and the colder water.  However, you would not want a suit with a neck that let in so much water that it rushes through, or pools inside the suit, because that wouldn't ever be warmed by your body.

I know you already bought a suit, but I wanted to let you know this so you weren't worried about tightening the neck too much when you wear it.    That would quickly make swimming in a panic.

Great. Here's my wisdom:   If you put it on the first time and it feels like it fits

... it's too big.

And how you install the suit on your body will make more of a difference in how it performs in the water, than the difference from suit to suit.

good luck, and have fun!

I assume this works for all wetsuits. Just how uncomfortable should the wetsuit be on dry land? Can anyone describe?

Did you consider a Desoto T1?

I'm NOT a swimmer (yet). But, I love the concept of my T1. I can wear....just the speedtube (pants) or pair it with the Concept 5 pullover.

The tops are 40% off, currently....and I picked up the speedtube off ebay for a little over $50.

I owned a Helix a few years ago. I don't know that I liked it any better than the T1, and I know the T1 is more versatile. That being said, if it's between those two (your two choices in the opening post), the Helix is an awesome suit.

Well I said that I was not going to do it this season, but I cracked. I broke down and bought a new bike. I went out and bought a shiny new Cannondale road bike.
