Subject: Computrainer help / advice needed please
Hello all,

So I have a new computrainer but I'm technically challenged and having a hard time with some of the features. I cant seem to get the RPM to show up on my screen, nor can I get the spin scan to do anything. I have tried repositioning the cadence sensor, but as yet no luck. Any suggestions?

Also, how do the Real Course Videos work? Do I need to buy them? I found some in the 'course exchange' and tried to download them, but then I couldn't play them back. It said they were only usable within the Power training screen, but that screen couldn't play them.

Can anyone offer help. I have tried looking online but not really come up with any helpful answers.

Thank you!

for the cadence the sensor goes on the chainstay and the wire connects to the yellow head unit. There are 3 jacks on the head unit, it's the middle one, labeled RPM
You need a magnet on the crank arm. Get the magnet to almost touch the sensor
If you are getting cadence, you will see it on the yellow head unit.

Spin scan will not work if cadence is not working.

For the videos, i bought 2. They are ok but I rarely use them.

CompuTrainer basic manual will get you going. It's very detailed and easy enough to follow.

Oh and... I found the wired RPM sensor on my CompuTrainer needed to be set up with very little space between the sensor on the chainstay and magnet on the crank. Like almost touching.

Yeah, you need to set the sensor and magnet up so there's practically no distance between them. I actually don't even use my cadence sensor on my Tacx trainer anymore since I always managed to accidentally push them away from each other at some point, and so the next session would start with me trying to set them up close enough so the signal would be picked up. Not fun. I don't know if Tacx are even more sensitive to this, but it was ridiculous on my trainer really.

Magic, thank you. These are much better instructions than the paper ones I was looking at. Not sure how I missed these online!

Any ideas on what / how to do RCV?

I never used Real Course Video on mine, I'd start here: http://www.racermateinc.com/software-support/
