Subject: RE: 910xt race day question For the stock HRM strap that comes with the 910XT, it doesn't matter. The signal from the HRM band to the watch itself is too weak to go through water, so the 910XT can't record the data being sent by the strap. So you can put the strap on before the swim, or after the swim in T1. Personally I just put mine on beforehand, because it doesn't bother me to wear it and it's one less thing to mess with in T1. Recently Garmin introduced a "HRM Swim" strap that records the data while you are swimming, and transmits it to the watch. It comes with the 920xt these days; I don't know if it's 910xt compatible or what. If you had one of these you'd probably know it. You probably have what is called the "premium HRM soft strap", it's what comes with a 910xt bundle. |
