Link worked for me.  Really great race, Jenn.  Perfectly executed practice race, other than the lungs full of water. 

Hope that gets better quickly.  You might have just created some irritation in the lungs and those muscles from the coughing/hacking - I know that's how I feel when I inhale instead of drink my beer.

Morning masters swim! 2600m in the pool. Feeling like a champ now! Don't know why, but some days I really feel like Superwoman after masters. Scheduled to bike an hour later, which is awesome, because the weather is beautiful today and I'd rather be anywhere else besides sitting in my office today.

Yeah I'm pretty confident I could run a half right now and be alright, just didn't know how big a step it is from a half to a full. For Memorial Day I did a 30k Ruck march with a 45lb rucksack. It was an absolutely brutal race, but I actually finished fairly well. Was on track to break the 4 hour mark, fought cramps starting at about mile 10, ran completely out of water 4 miles from the finish line. It was a longggg last 3 miles or so. Think I might have a photo around from the race...I know it's probably not a race you see often around here, but it definitely will completely push you to your limits. Edit: found it...I'm on the right side in the front...you can see the hurt in my face lmao 

Wow...that's looks awful. 

I think you're fine for starting marathon training.  Starting at 20-25 mpw should easily get you up to 40-45 by week 8/9.  This coming from a guy who's never done a marathon LOL.

Ain't THAT the truth!  I have a quick, 30 minute scheduled for lunchtime today so I'm probably going to do it on the trainer for convenience, but wow I'm tempted to go out.  Just got my bike tuned up, too and a new front derailleur (mine had seized up).  Shifting like butta!!

Right now I'm riding my faithful 2010 Fuji Roubaix road bike with clip-on aerobars - it works (sorta).  I have a chance to pull the trigger on a used 2014 Cannondale Slice 5 105 for about $800 - REALLY thinking about it.  I've been working on a "build a tri bike" project for a couple of years but haven't found a frame I like so I could sell the parts I have for a couple hundred bucks to put towards it - hmmmmmmm.....  .

Just tried a test ride for my lungs...a mile in and my chain popped over too far on my chain ring while shifting for whatever reason (I was on flats and chain was in middle of cassette in the back - I'm a friendly shifter). Anyway it locked up tight between the chain ring and frame. Fortunately I was able to pop out of my pedals and pull over. It took a while but I got it un-wedged and back on (yea!) but there's a little sort metal protector plate on the carbon frame next to the chain ring and the chain grabbed onto it and bent it enough to interfere with the chain ring. (Angry face). I can't access it without taking the chain ring off from the looks of it. So I started the mile walk home (thankfully only a mile) and a lovely lady pulled up and asked if I wanted a ride. Her husband cycles and just the other day she had to pick him up with a flat. Very thankful to her today. Now only just under 2 hours left before I have to get the boys so I'll hit the pool instead. I can use the trainer while their home later.
Follow up doctor's appt today to check my lungs. Trying to stay positive but really feel like I'm running out of time.

Brutal morning workout..any of you into crossfit may know what a murph is..for those that have been fortunate enough to not partake in one..it's a mile sprint, 100 pull-ups, 200 airsquats, 300 push-ups, and a mile sprint. We saved the last mile run for the way back, it just so happens that right at a mile, there is a huge gym with all kinds of fun stuff..after the pull ups, push ups and air squats, we did leg destroyers(you can try these at home!)

Leg Destroyers
15 reps jumping jacks, toe jumps, and calf raises..
Then 14..
Then 13..
All the way to 1 rep..
No rest between sets

Then we went and did some power lifting, I actually hit a new PR on deadlifts today, 352lbs ??..then we finished it off with a "sprint" back..more like a try not to fall on your face or throw up for a mile.

Oh, did I mention this was all in our plate carriers? So add ~35-40lbs to your chest.

Thank god we are getting a 4 day weekend..

Lol all in a day's work :P

Afternoon workout was great, thought I was going to be sucking from this morning, but I felt good. Got some speed work in on an indoor track we have nearby, and then got into the pool for a bit, just focusing on technique.

I feel so fortunate to be able to train in such a beautiful place, with top of the line gyms and facilities all over, and 3 free meals a day!

Busy day here today! Cable guy is scheduled to com at noon. I already had a packed schedule, with the plan to ride long this afternoon. Ok, scratch that, C scheduled cable guy 12-4, ugh. Rearrange! Masters from 6-7:30, ride from 8-11:30, brick run 11:35-11:55. Done! Of course, cable guy is no where to be found!

Tomorrow will be much the same. We are visiting C's family for lunch, so we have to leave the house by 9:45am. Before that I'm scheduled for a 2:15 run and a 30' ride. Who doesn't like getting up at 5 on Saturday to get it all in?!?

Awesome training day today! Up at 4:45 to ride and run. Ride was no biggie (30min). Run was big--9miles, which I've never done before. Weather was perfect! 65F at beginning, 67F at the end. Only walking was on the big hill by my house. Felt like a champ afterwards. I really needed that after a couple lousy runs lately. Rest day tomorrow, but I might hit the pool, since it will be closed on the 4th.

Awesome job hitting 9 miles - that's a serious run.  I've never hit that distance while tri training (only while doing HM training, and even then not very often).

One thing to try might be to flip the order around and do the run first, and then spin on bike easy for 30 minutes.  I did that for some of my longer runs and found it helped with the soreness and recovery.

I got in about half that yesterday, 15 min bike to WU and then a little under 4.5 miles EZ.  I then did my lower body and core workout and a cool down swim with my daughter.  About two hours total.  We then mauled some Panera. 

There's a 10K race that I've done about a half dozen times tomorrow but it's really hilly and I don't want to beat up my legs (plus it's supposed to pour...).  Maybe next year.

Thanks for the tip about ride/run order, Mike. That's what the plan called for, but I couldn't find my headlamp, so I couldn't run until after the sun came up. To fit it all in, I had to ride first.

Rest day for me today, but I did manage to score an invitation to a local Tri club's weekly OWS for tomorrow.

Morning ows got rained out...boo. Hit the roads for a great run during a brief respite in the rain (too brief, I got drenched). Of late, my training is really coming together and I'm having great runs that are giving me a lot of confidence for my HIM. run is my weakness, so this is feeling awesome!

I went for a ride yesterday with a 60 year old man who kicked my a$$. Seriously - the guy was a machine and he was telling me that the biggest thing I can do is to drop a gear and pedal faster. He thinks I would do best hovering in the 100 to 105 range but this seems so fast to me. I would tend to doubt him but he has ridden almost 400,000 miles (he rode 200 miles to make it to his vacation place up here - the guy is a stud) so he knows more than I will ever know.

Thoughts about revolutions per minute?

Rest day today for me and boy do i need it. My legs are dead! This is the time in my training when nothing really feel like it's going well. My butt hurts - achilles isn't healed, and I'm daunted by the training that lies in my near future. I know it's temporary but the build can and does suck but what I really need to improve is my confidence. I just don't think I have it in me but I need to put in the time to change those self defeating thoughts. They certainly aren't helping, so it's time to do the work.

Hows everyone else doing?
