Subject: Fall/Winter/Spring Road Races?

Max suggested we make a list of road races everyone is thinking of doing in hopes that we can meet up and make a road race more fun racing with other BTers.

The suggestion is we post this both to CT and MA so check out the MA list as well.

Please post races you are considering...dates, location, distance, link to a website if there is one....

If I am feeling good after Hartford—I may do this 10 miler too.

Here is the link too

Thinking either the Hartford 1/2 marathon or the Mystic Places 10 miler.  Haven't decided which yet.

Also planning on Tarzan Brown Mystic River Run.  5.5 miles in Mystic CT. 11/5/2006.  A scenic out and back run along the Mystic River.  Fairly flat with 1 short incline/roller section.  One of my favorite running routes here (a mainstay in every long run I do).  Will add link once posted.

Hyannis, Feb 25, 2007,  No sure if I'll be doing the 1/2 or the full mary although I'm sure Rob will chime in and convince me to do the full mary.

Great River Ride, 30, 62, 85 or 108 mile ride
In Western MA...great route with beautiful fall leaves and the like and some challenging hills.  Plan on doing the 85 route if my back gets healthy
10-22-2006 Mystic Marathon or 10 miler, I'm planning on the shorter version
11-12-2006 Seacoast 1/2 Mary, NH

Aaron...you should definately do the full at Hyannis. I like the idea of everyone doing the full and I get to do the half this time

LOL.  Then you can experience standing around in the freezing cold.  Although with any luck it will be in the 40's next year.

I'm game if someone can convince me it won't be too much too early relative to LP.

Actually, I think it's a good time for it. This way we'll be completely recovered from it and will have built an AWESOME base we'll simply have to maintain. That way we can throw shorter runs w/ some speed work in our training to help us when the going gets tough at LP.

Just my .02...

I'm in for Mystic if my leg is better.

Does anyone have any great races/bike tours on the 15th? That's my 30th birthday, and being a raging geek taht's how I want to spend it.

Guys—I am toying with the idea of making this my first marathon (Hyannis).

I like the idea of getting it done in Feb and then having that under my belt as I train for my first HIM.

Thoughts? or is this a new thread…?

I think that's an excellent idea, Pam.

Have to say that it's going to be tough getting the miles/build-up in over the winter though. But we'll do it. (I'm going to have to go back to Marks logs and see how he did it.)

Two more in for Mystic (I'm doing the 10 miler)

Maybe I'll come out for the Hyannis Half...
but if I do a full it will be the New Jersey Marathon at the end of April.

"might???" "might???" You are SO IN!

In fact, I think that should be in your goals in your blog.

oooh, maybe i should hold off and do this marathon instead—more time to train and still doesnt interfere with my tri plans for next summer

I'm okay training for a half marathon in the winter, but the full will be too much. I can't handle too much treadmill, and I seem to get joint issues on long runs under 27 degrees. Can't wait to rock the shorts over running tights look again this year!

Anywya, I did the half version of the NJ Marathon this spring and it was just a great race. Super flat, too. The half is one loop and the full marathon is two. Awesome crowd support toward the end, and you can't beat the last 5K of each loop, which is oceanside (along the boardwalk). Send me a note if you have any questions.

Danielle, I would definately consider doing this as my first full. Would be cool if my mom and family who are in NJ were there to cheer me on!

Here is a metric century ride sponsored by Cycling Concepts in Rocky Hill (I know Rob) that I think I will probably do on Sept. 23

No worries by me. I have a lot of old friends that are doing it. I was going to but I don't want to give the shop the $$--FKers!
