Comments:

Was hoping to run at least a minute faster per mile, but my asthma started to act up and needed to slow down to catch my breath. By the end I was breathing ok.
What would you do differently?:

Fix this asthma attack that I seem to get this time of the year.

It was a good transition.

Comments:

I felt very strong on the bike with the amount of biking I have done during the winter. First loop I had a good pace and was passing rider. On the start of the second loop I know I may have cooked the leg as I felt tired and its was starting to get hot. With about 3 miles left, I saw a rider pushing her bike. I ask if she had a spare or tools to fix a flat. The rider didn't have nothing and was planning to walking the 3 miles to T1. I know that they wasn't a shag out watching for rider. So I stopped and help. Got the rider fix and going. I packed my stuff and rode to T2.
What would you do differently?:

I had pack two bottles and 1 gel for this race: 1 water & 1 nutrition. With it warming up, I should be taken another bottle.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

Got off the bike and I was tired. Hands were dirty and I took my time clean them on my arm sleeves.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate more

Comments:

At the start my leg (quads) were border line ready to cramp up. After a few minute it went away. However my legs were shot and I couldn't pick up the pace. Asthma wasn't a issue on this run.
What would you do differently?:

Hydrate more and probably could have taken another gel.
Post race
Warm down:

Cold Chocolate Milk!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

ASTHAMA!

Event comments:

This is the 4 annual race with 4 different courses. This one is probably the best course I had done. I felt very safe out there. Finisher medal was a cow bell this year.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

My first duathlon was a success. I had so many fears before the race but none of those fears happened. And when it was all over, I felt I had accomplished something big.
