I have no idea why I didn't write this up when it happened. The start was super disorganized and the parking was a mess. Once we finally got started, the race was good. The issue was with getting out of St. Mary's College and making a hard right onto Hillsborough. Once we were on Hillsborough Street, it was a straight out and back (to about Cup A Joe).

Event comments:

In all honesty, I would probably not do this event again unless I was with family. It seems like it's more of an event for the stroller crowd than anyone else.

Parking was also an issue. Why have it on a college campus and have us park blocks away, walking by the empty parking lots on said campus to get there?

Also, while I understand fundraiser events, this one was super pushy about it which I found to be a turn off (not that I don't do fundraising for TdC and BikeMS and so on, just don't shove it down my throat and fill my inbox with stuff).

I guess that answers the question about why I didn't do the race report sooner. I didn't want to memorialize it.

Soon after I got married, I decided I needed to get motivated to work out and focus on getting back into shape. I could barely jog a quarter-mile without needing a walk break.

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

My doctor says 140bpm HR is my max, but that feels like a walk in the park... I don't know what to do, how to train, and my motivation is waning. Any suggestions?

Pain shows us how strong we are. After last weekend I am convinced of this. After 151 training hours of swimming, biking, and running, I flew to Sonoma County, California for the race.
